Humans of ME/CFS
Hi! I’m Christianne. I’m a 40-year-old mom of three.
I came down with Mono in April of 2014. I never seemed to shake it. I had blood tests, saw multiple doctors, and was told by my now former Primary Care Provider, that it was psychosomatic… all in my head!!
It took over a year and a half of crushing fatigue, body pain, brain fog, hair loss, and swollen glands until a rheumatologist diagnosed me with ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia.
Now I’m on Cymbalta and Ultram which help somewhat. I find that Yoga helps a lot.
The most difficult thing for me is accepting the diagnoses. I am a type-A, so sitting still is not something I am good at doing! I feel lazy.
My mom and dad have been the most supportive. My dad has Multiple Sclerosis, so we share similar symptoms. We all research and try different things to see what helps.
I still work full-time and help lead a girl scout troop. All my daughters are in school, so there are lots of activities and running around. Some days are easier than others to get through.
I’m still figuring this all out and hoping to find the right combination of meds, exercise, and natural remedies that help me.
